Every year, on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar, the Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese holiday. To promote the traditional culture and let Russian and Chinese students understand the festival and its rich cultural connotation, our school, and 1517 Middle School held an activity on the theme of "Celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival".

The Russian and Chinese students watched a video on the customs and origins of "The Dragon Boat Festival" and learned about the origins of the festival and its unique customs (commemorating the death of a national hero, Qu Yuan), such as eating zongzi, racing dragon boats, hanging mugwort and calamus. Afterward, the students learned to make zongzi on the spot. They turned the ingredients into various kinds of zongzi, and by making zongzi with their own hands, the Russian and Chinese students could feel the connotation of the traditional Chinese festival.

Through the interactive cultural experience of making zongzi, painting eggs, hanging colored ropes, and folding paper gourds, the students were able to immerse themselves in traditional Chinese culture and the characteristics of the Dragon Boat Festival, allowing Russian children to gain a deeper understanding of the charm of traditional Chinese culture and feel a nice festive touch.

Through this activity, we promoted cross-cultural understanding and diversified integration, made the Dragon Boat Festival a cultural bridge, promoted Sino-Russian friendly cooperation and communication, and at the same time took this opportunity to further promote communication between teachers and students of the two schools and enhance the friendship between the youth of the two countries.
