Ambassador Gong Jianwei was born in September 1954. In 1971,Gong Jianwei studied Russian in Changchun Foreign Language School(CFLS).From 1976 to 1984 he was the Staff member and Third Secretary at the Department of Soviet and East European Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). From 1984 to 1988 he was appointed Third Secretary/Second Secretary at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. From 1988 to 1992 he held the position of Second Secretary and Deputy Division Director/First Secretary at the Department of Soviet and East European Affairs, MFA. From 1992 to 1995 he worked as First Secretary at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Russian Federation. From 1995 to 1996 he worked as First Secretary at the Department of European-Central Asian Affairs, MFA. From 1996 to 2001, he was entitled as Counselor at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Russian Federation. From 2001 to 2005 he held the position of Counselor at Department of European-Central Asian Affairs, MFA. From 2005 to 2008 he became Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Moldova. From 2008 to 2010 he was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Georgia. From 2010 to 2013 he held the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus. From 2014 until present, he was assigned as Executive Director of the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
