On the afternoon of December 24, 2021, the English drama performance of Grade Ten was grandly held in the lecture hall on the sixth floor. Accompanied by the excellent performances of Grade Ten Symphony Orchestra, the Foreign Language drama performance officially kicked off.

Attending this event were Principal Wang Hao, Vice Principal Zhang Lianfeng, Vice Chairman of the School Union Wang Junbo, Deputy Director Wang Zhongshan of the International Department, Deputy Director Yu Hongwei of the High School English Teaching and Research Office, Director Jiang Haijun of the Grade Ten, and teachers and parent representatives. Foreign English teachers Serena, Melanie and Josiah also attended the event. The rhythm of the opening song and dance is bright and cheerful, reflecting the enthusiasm and youth of the students. The superb performances of each class fully embodies the team spirit of each class's unity and cooperation, and the positive class style. At the same time, it also enhances the teacher-student relationship and enhances the cohesion of the class.

The first performance was the drama "Phantom of the Opera" performed by the students of Class Two. They put together a solid act in very little time. As the first class to perform on stage, the Class Two students performed this classic opera vividly and received unanimous praise.

The classmates of CLass Eight gave a wonderful interpretation of "The Great Gatsby". The protagonist has tons of dough but he is never happy. He owns a castle but always yearns for the lighthouse on the other side. The students in Class Eight perfectly reproduced a magnificent elegy from the era for the audience through their fine performance.

Subsequently, the students of Class One performed Shakespeare’s classic play "Macbeth", telling the story of the hero Macbeth, driven by ambition and desire, through betrayal, murder, and deception to gain the throne of king. He undertook a reign of terror, gradually losing popularity, and eventually the country was destroyed. The wonderful performances of the students made the audience feel the shortest and cruelest tragedy of Shakespeare and won rounds of applause.

The classmates from Class Nine brought "Oliver Twist" to the audience. With the experience of the orphan Oliver as a clue, the plot was ups and downs, making people sigh for Oliver's life experience, angry for the bad guys, moved by the kind people, and saw the price the protagonist paid for growth. The performance was immersive, undoubtedly a successful presentation of the original work.

The performance script of "A Christmas Carol" of Class Four is adapted from Dickens's novel. It tells the story of three Christmas elves who rescued a selfish, cold, but wealthy miser on Christmas Eve, making him decide to change his past, embrace a better life, and change his destiny. The costumes and props of the actors are original, and the dialogue is humorous.

"Gone with the Wind", starred by Class Ten students, tells the story of love that blossoms between Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler during the American Civil War. The classic plot is more attractive through the superb performance of the students.

"Vanity Fair" performed by Class Five is adapted from a classic film reflecting the bourgeois and aristocratic society. Vanity Fair is a flashy world, it blinds people's eyes. This performance aroused the audience's deep thoughts, free from the bondage of fame, wealth and money, what should we really pursue?

The students from Class Six brought "Jane Eyre" to the audience. Their dedicated performances and well-designed stage effects showed Jane’s image of striving for freedom and equality. The touching love story between Jane and Mr. Rochester caught the audience's attention from the very beginning.

The performance "Pride and Prejudice" from Class Eleven is adapted from Jane Austen's famous book. It uses Elizabeth as the protagonist to tell the story of the five daughters of the Bennet family. Eventually, lovers become dependents. Class Eleven students performed lively with exquisite costumes, as if to put the audience in a gorgeous dance party in the 19th century.

The performance of "The Million Pound Note" by Class Three is satisfactory. It tells the story of a homeless man who became rich overnight in a society where money is supreme. The seemingly humorous plot satirizes the excessive emphasis on money in the society. The actors perform freely, and the humorous performance makes the audience laugh constantly.

The performances of the eleven classes were really dizzying and unfulfilled. From rehearsal to performance, the students showed the enthusiasm, exploration and professionalism of CFLS students.

After the award ceremony, the three foreign teachers commented on the performance in turn, expressing their full affirmation and expectations for Grade Ten students.

In the end, Principal Wang Hao gave a speech, affirming the students' hard work for the performance, thereby drawing a successful conclusion to the Foreign Languages and Cultural Festival. Principal Wang said that learning a foreign language is not just about learning language skills, but also about the creation of thinking ability. The improvement of thinking ability is inseparable from a profound understanding of the language and culture that we are learning, and such a profound understanding can enable us to understand language learning in multiple dimensions. This Foreign Languages and Cultural Festival is a showcase for creating long-term foreign language courses and interpretation of classics. It provides a stage for all foreign language-loving students to showcase their self-demeanor and enhance communication with each other. Meanwhile, it also demonstrated the fruitful results of quality education featuring foreign language teaching in CFLS. The students grew up in this activity, pondered the connotation of "National Consciousness, International Vision", and strived to become outstanding talents with Global Competence.
