On the afternoon of April 18, 2022, CFLS held a unique English teaching seminar on the Tencent conference network platform. Xu Zhuo, a teacher, and researcher of the English subject at the High School Teaching and Research Training Department of Jilin Provincial Institute of Education participated in this event and gave a high evaluation. The event was hosted by Zhang Zhenhe, director of the English Teaching and Research Section of CFLS. In this teaching and research activity, high school English teacher Lou Yang conducted online public teaching.

"How to use technology empowerment in online teaching to teach and learn efficiently?" After receiving the task of the seminar, Director Zhang Zhenhe led the core group members and all teachers of the English group of Senior Two to act quickly and carried out teaching research within a week. From the teaching method to the design of activities and tasks, everyone works together to collide with each other. By optimizing classroom activities, creating scientific and reasonable scenarios, mobilizing the enthusiasm of students, and improving the operability and practicality of activities. In the end, Ms. Lou took "guiding - solving puzzles - sorting - improving" as the classroom context, and made full use of technological empowerment (voting, electronic whiteboard) to carry out teaching activities. To meet the learning needs and efficiency of students at different levels, Ms. Lou made a study guide. With the help of technical means, she led the students to ask questions and discuss in the online seminar.
At 2:25 p.m., the online open class officially kicked off. In just 45 minutes, Ms. Lou took the study guide as the leading framework, took clear classroom learning objectives as the basis for evaluation, promoted teaching in the form of students' questions, empowered the classroom with skilled technical means, and used students' language ability as the basis for evaluation. And the improvement of thinking quality is the direction, and the rich reading activities are carried out in an orderly manner. With solid language literacy and teaching skills, Ms. Lou made students at different levels dare to ask questions and interpret the whole article with the cooperation of the group.

After this class, Director Zhang Zhenhe of the English Teaching and Research Office of Senior High School led all teachers to conduct in-depth discussions. First of all, Ms. Lou Yang gave a lecture and explained his design ideas and course of preparation from three dimensions, shared some practical and efficient technical means, and also reflected on the exploration of teaching intentions.

After the class evaluation within the group, Ms. Xu Zhuo, an English teacher, and researcher at Jilin Province High School commented on Ms. Lou's class and gave forward-looking suggestions for the development of English subjects in CFLS. Ms. Xu Zhuo pointed out that under the leadership of Director Zhang Zhenhe, this activity was organized in an orderly manner, and the content of teaching and research was in-depth, which reflected the teaching and research level of the English subject of CFLS. Ms. Lou has a solid language foundation and strong discourse interpretation ability. Her classes reflect the student-centered approach, attach importance to the cultivation of students' thinking, improve the connection between homework and the classroom, and demonstrate the quality of teachers and students. While giving affirmation, Ms. Xu Zhuo also put forward higher expectations to us: first, to improve the language used in students' day-to-day reports, which can be more colloquial; second, to improve the quality of homework and classroom activity design; third, to improve teachers' understanding of student's request. Whether in terms of thinking, in terms of language quality, or in the way students behave, there must be high standards. In this meeting, Ms. Xu Zhuo expressed his professional opinions on teaching design and teaching links with a professional and unique perspective.

Teaching without research is shallow, and research without teaching is empty. Every teaching and research activity is an opportunity for teachers to learn and improve, providing a platform for teachers to observe and interact, which can effectively help teachers’professional development. In the future, the teachers of the senior high school English group of CFLS will make concerted efforts to dig deep into English teaching with diligence and perseverance.
